What's Golden
Jimmy has started working at the Golden Dragon now as a waiter and busboy. At 14 he’s two years under the legal working age so Bing tells people he’s his son. The other waiters, especially Henry, the head waiter, don’t like him because he always seems to get more tips. Henry is a pompous jerk who always brownnoses the customers by trying to light their cigarettes. Bing’s wife told me she caught him stealing liquor and even toilet paper.
Generally, though, the restaurant is doing marvellously well. With three separate dining rooms, it has become the Chinese restaurant of choice for all the dignitaries who pass through town. Not just city bigwigs, but regular people put on their Sunday best for a meal at the Golden Dragon. Jimmy works hard packing the takeout orders for the local taxis, which Bing has enlisted as delivery vehicles.
Willie is sleepwalking again. Last night I caught him peeing in the garbage can. He was asleep but managed somehow to dress himself to go to school.
